the tutoring that I OFFER:

I help both beginning and experienced massage therapists to develop awareness and presence within their own bodies, minds & spirits. I help you develop sensitive palpation skills, to discover ways to effectively use body weight, and ways to cultivate self-awareness and self-love.

I draw on my 30 years of experience practicing deep-yet-gentle lomilomi. Check out my extensive videos on this website for examples.

I also draw on what I've learned in attending many Ortho-Bionomy® workshops since 2024. Studying Ortho-Bionomy has helped me further develop very gentle, yet specific, skill in fascial release in a way that helps relieve tension from head to toe.

WILL WE WORK WITH A SPECIFIC MODALITY?

I am not offering to specifically teach you either lomilomi and/or Ortho-Bionomy, the modalities I am most experienced with.

Rather I am offering to use the quality of touch I've developed from my experiences with these two modalities, and others, to help you improve your own touch sensitivity with whatever bodywork modality you are using. We will give attention to grounding in your own body, and to working from your core.

One specific result I anticipate is for you to improve your ability to faciltate gentle facial release.

these tutoring sessions are structured AS A TRADE

In my experience, the best way to develop sensitive feeling touch is by feeling it in our own bodies. The more I've been able to develp my sensitivity via both movement and receiving touch, the more sensitivity I've been able to develop in giving touch.

We will schedule 2.5 hour sessions.

We will begin with movement exploration drawing on my studies of tai chi and Z-Health Education. This is to help us both become more present in our own bodies, and to explore movement patterns we might have been unaware of. We will explore things such as how our eyes affect our movement, and how to better use of our pelvis.

Then we will split the time between me giving you a treatment and you giving me a treatment while I will provide you with feedback and suggestions.

The treatment I give you will be primarily Ortho-Bionomy and will include both techniques I am experienced with as well as some that are newer to me and I am therefore practicing. I am actively seeking more opportunities to develop skill in this work. Recieving this sesssion is expected to help you fine tune your own touch sensitivity.

The session you give me can be done using whatever style of bodywork you are familiar with.
