Aloha,

Fall greetings from Barbara Helynn Heard. The leaves are blushing red and gold as they progress on their annual journey from life to death. They are beautiful!

I leave for the Big Island in a couple of days where I will attend a residential lomilomi retreat led by kumu lomi Harry Uhane Jim. Harry writes that that there will be no agenda structure. I'm looking forward to the flow that will evolve. This experience will surely enrich my life, my massage practice and the massage classes that I teach.

10 DAY RESIDENTIAL LOMILOMI INTENSIVE
In April I will host and teach for the first time a 10 day residential lomilomi intensive in Hillsborough, NH. Participants will learn Mana Lomi® healing massage at an accelerated pace. We will cover both the full body protocol taught in Mana Lomi® level 1 and the treatment work taught in Mana Lomi® level 2.

We will live together family style in a large and beautiful vacation home lcoated on the shores of a small lake. In addition to bodywork we’ll share Hawaiian meditation, chants, body exploration sessions, ho’oponopono teachings, and more. We will slow down from our often too hectic pace of life and have FUN!!

I will award a FULL TUITION GOODWILL RAINBOW SCHOLARSHIP for the lomilomi intensive to one special person who is dedicated to serving the community using manual healing arts.

I love teaching Mana Lomi®. In my teaching I emphasize body awareness, use of one's weight, development of keen palpation skills and the use of the creative power of the words. My intent as a teacher is to see the Light in each person and to help each student to be and to do their very best.

Lomilomi has been a primary focus of my life since 1996 when I graduated from Brian Utting School of Massage and established my active private practice in Seattle, WA. I've taught lomilomi since 2006.

ABOUT MANA LOMI®

Mana Lomi® is style of lomilomi developed by Native Hawaiian Maka'ala Yates, D.C.- pictured here - drawing on his 16 year apprenticeship with beloved and well known teacher Aunty Margaret Machado, and his other teachers. This Big Island Style Lomi lineage is very therapeutic, specific work which addresses and helps resolve injury.

Mana Lomi is structural lomi incorporating concepts of Hawaiian spirituality, meditation techniques, and indigenous value. Mana Lomi® is deep yet gentle bodywork which pays special attention to bones and which gives immediate & long-term pain relief.
